Andy Warhol
When I think of Andy Warhol I think of the coolest life ever lived. No one will ever live as wild and edgy, yet thoughtful and contemplative a life as Andy. Warhol had the ability to shmooze with the most famous, the most gifted, most fun people of his generation, even as times changed. Everyone loved Andy and it is not hard to see why. Like Madonna, he never fell out of favor. That trait does not come for free. You have to be turning gears behind the scene to stay in the spotlight.

I was always amazed at how modest Andy was. He continuously reduced his ideas about art and philosophy to overly-simplified silly statements. He continuously stated the surface of things is all there is. And that may be true. Yet there is an underbelly to his work, a more introspective and thoughtful take on life that comes out if you look real hard. I always saw Andy as a philosopher first and an artist second.
